2. Application Requirements
International Students
Single Room:
Undergraduate Program, Junior College Program, Graduate School Masters Program,
Doctorate Program, or specialized courses at a specialty/vocational institution, within the City
of Yokohama, who have a “college student” visa (including those expected to enter these schools
in April, 2023).
※Those who do not meet the requirements: auditor students, research students, pre-college
students, short-term international students, or students engaged in specialized research courses
Family Room:
Those who can live with the international student in a family room include: spouse
and children with “dependent,” or “college student,” visas.
※Accepted applicants are required to attend the Guidance for New Residents Meeting to be held in March. In case of absence from the meeting, your name will be put on a waiting list.
Resident Assistant (RA)
Single Room: Japanese students or Students holding a permanent resident visa in Japan who are enrolled in an Undergraduate Program, Junior College Program, Graduate School Masters Program, Doctorate Program or specialized courses at a specialty/vocational school within the city of Yokohama.
※Those who do not meet the requirements: auditor students, research students, pre-college
students, or students engaged in specialized research courses
<Role of RA>
・Actively participate and cooperate in events held at the Yokohama International Student House.
・Support exchange activities of international students.
・Support residents to get to know each other and to make friends.
・Work towards solving misunderstandings that may arise from everyday life and customs and help explain Japanese customs/culture.
・Provide cooperation to the operation of this house.
※Accepted applicants must attend the Guidance for New Residents Meeting to be held in March.
In case of absence from the meeting, your name will be put on a waiting list.
※Applicants must undergo an interview.
3. Period for Submitting Application Materials
From 4th January to 27th January, 2023 within 5:00 p.m.
※ Each school will collect all its students’ applications to send to us at the same time. Please be sure to confirm your own school’s deadline as it may be earlier than the deadline at YISH.

5. Documents to be submitted
Please correctly fill out the forms according to “How to Complete the Application Materials.”
Arrange the documents in the order from ➀ as follows, and a staple in the upper left-hand side of the page.
*A person makes reference is designated as a president or a dean of the department of University, or two year college, and a principal of vocational school.
※only for applicants who have been accepted and are expected to enter the university or institute in April 2023
※Put an 84yen postal stamp and write your name and address in Japan to receive the notification of results on February 13th, 2023.
6. Notification of Results for Acceptance of Residents
Residents are decided by the “Yokohama International Student House Resident Acceptance Committee.”
The results will be sent to the applicants directly, on February 8th, 2023 (in the envelope you sent us).
We will send the results also to the respective schools.
7. Interview
Only applicants for RA will have interview before deciding the acceptance of residents.
